Wander the Streets of Ciutadella
Menorca’s cities are often unfairly overlooked by visitors who head straight for the beach resorts. But if you leave the comforts of your Cala Galdana villa and head over to the west coast city of Ciutadella for a day, you’ll be amply rewarded – with its 17th century architecture and narrow winding streets, it is the architectural delight of Menorca. Wandering through the streets and enjoying the sights is a great way to idle away a day, and some of the best restaurants and nightlife on the island are also to be found in Ciutadella.
Dance the Night Away in the Caves of Xoroi
A holiday in Cala Galdana can be the perfect way to relax, and the bars and restaurants are excellent for a quiet evening out. But party goers looking for a more active nightlife should head over to the resort of Cala’n Porter, where the Caves of Xoroi is the main attraction. This bar and disco, built into the natural caves overlooking the sea, is the most exciting place to drink and dance in Menorca.
Go to the Top of Mount Toro
Mount Toro is the highest point in Menorca. It may only 1174 feet above sea level, but what it lacks it prominence it makes up for in spectacle; the summit provides stunning views out over the entire island, and there is also a 17th century church on the top of the mountain. You can drive or walk to the top Mount Toro, and a day trip to the mountain is a great way to stretch your legs after a few days spent relaxing on the beach.
Marvel at Naveta des Tudons
Menorca is famed for its unique navetas, prehistoric stone structures that are scattered across the island, shaped like upturned ships. Although they are generally believed to be burial chambers, little is truly known about them. History lovers on holiday in Cala Galdana should make a day trip to Naveta des Tudons, the largest, best preserved and most famous naveta on the island, located just outside Ciutadella.
Play Golf at Son Parc
Golf fanatics on a holiday to Cala Galdana will no doubt be eager to practice their game while on vacation. Menorca only has one golf course, Son Parc, but what the island lacks in diversity it makes up for in quality. Son Parc, located 30km from Cala Galdana is a delightful 18 hole level golf course, suitable for beginners and expert players alike.
