Palma is not just the capital of Balearic Islands but also the economic and cultural center of the islands. It is a volcanic island situated on the south coast of Mallorca, and is also a popular holiday destination. Palma is the natural port of call when you visit Mallorca.

Type of tourists?
Palma has a warm climate that makes it a must place to be for holidaying. Holiday people include Europeans and Americans as well. From University students to honeymooners and from families to retirees, Palma is a place for everyone.

Warm climate
The climate in Palma is generally warm with the average temperature varying from 400F to 610F. It offers a year round sunshine and climatic conditions can vary from a dull and overcast sky to scorching sun. Palma has the coastal area as well as mountainous landscape and the climate varies in both the areas. Its warm near the coast but as you head inland, it will start getting colder.

Airport
Palma is well connected to Spanish islands like Tenerife, Gran Canaria and El Hierro, and also to most large airports in Europe. Local beer
The local beer in Palma is San Miguel, which is quite cheap and pleasant. Mahou is also frequently served.

Safety
All in all Palma is safe for single women though one needs to be careful regarding pick pocketers who roam near the clubs.

What to eat
The cuisine in Palma is extremely diverse. Fish is very popular and so is meat especially pork, cheese, vegetables and different tropical fruits. The cuisine is distinctively Mediterranean and the Canarians add their own ingredients and style to it. You will find a lot of fish on their menu, which is cooked and served as fried, boiled, fresh, grilled, salted, etc. It is served with the delicious mojo sauce, which can vary from mild to extremely hot. There are some mouth watering shellfish cuisines also available. One of the popular seafood dishes of the island is Sancocho.

The beach
There are 5 escategories of beaches in Palma and they are unspoilt beaches, nudist beaches, urban beaches, rustic beaches, and semi urban beaches. Palma s coastline is known to be one of the beast and beautiful of all in the Canary Islands. The beaches are stunning with crystal clear waters and black volcanic sand. The Atlantic Ocean kissing the Palma beaches have strong currents that create powerful waves, which is dangerous for swimming. Some of the most popular beaches include Can Pastilla, Cala Mayor, Es Molinar, Ciutat Jardi, Can Pere Antoni, and EL Arenal.
